Jamie Russell Frederick Wilson, MD, FRCS, MSc
Dr Wilson is a Fellowship-trained Complex Spine Neurosurgeon and Clinician Scientist with an interest in Aging and Frailty as it relates to Degenerative Spine Disease. His clinical interests focus on the surgical treatment for all aspects of degenerative spine disease including cervical myelopathy, cervical radiculopathy, lumbar and thoracic disc disease, adult spinal deformity and revision spine surgery. Dr Wilson incorporates the newest and most effective technology, such as Robotic Spine Surgery and AI-driven custom spine implants, to maximize the outcomes of his patients.
Dr. Wilson graduated medicine from the University of Oxford, UK before completing his residency at Leeds Teaching Hospitals in the North of England. During his 2 year Complex Spine Fellowship at the University of Toronto Dr Wilson earned a reputation for research in the effects of old age on the outcomes after spine surgery. He has won multiple research awards and grants, written book chapters on spine surgery and presents regularly at national meetings for the North American Spine Society, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons (Spine Section) and Cervical Spine Research Society. Prior to joining MUSC, Dr Wilson served as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska.
