Andre Uflacker, MD, BBA

Dr. Andre Uflacker is a native of Porto-Alegre, Brazil, but has lived in the United States since 1993. He speaks both English and Portuguese. He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2009, followed by a surgical internship at Washington Hospital Center, as well as a residency and fellowship at the University of Virginia in vascular and interventional radiology.After completing his residency and fellowship, Dr. Uflacker joined the faculty at the University of Virginia Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging as an interventional radiologist, where he participated in creating a multidisciplinary program for a genetic disorder called Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT).Dr. Uflacker’s research interests are focused on embolic therapy and he is actively investigating the application of particle embolization in osteoarthritis. His clinical interests include: prostatic artery embolization for benign prostatic hyperplasia; treatment of pelvic congestion syndrome; HHT; uterine artery embolization; placenta accreta; venous disease; cancer treatment; and, peripheral vascular disease.Dr. Uflacker, who enjoys painting, helped edit and illustrate the 3rd Edition of the Atlas of Vascular Anatomy (originally written by his father, Dr. Renan Uflacker).Dr. Uflacker sees patients at the MUSC Main Hospital and at the Ashley River Tower downtown. He also sees patients in the MUSC outpatient center in Mount Pleasant.
