Dr. Hewitt is the Emergency Medicine Director at MUSC Health Lancaster and Chester Medical Center. She previously served as Director and Chief of Emergency Services at Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle, North Carolina, where she provided leadership for the emergency department and coordinated patient care within a multidisciplinary team. Prior to her directorship, she served as a staff physician and Quality Director at Atrium Health Huntersville in Huntersville, North Carolina.
She has also worked as a Consulting Travel Physician for Apollo M.D., focusing on process improvement, operations, and patient satisfaction. She has also served as a locum tenens physician providing care for the Navajo Nation at Tuba City Regional Healthcare Corporation in Tuba City, AZ. She is an Adjunct Professor in the Physician Assistant Studies Program at Wingate University.
Dr. Hewitt received a Bachelor's Degree from the Xavier University of Louisiana and a Medical Degree from the University of Illinois. She received a Master's in Public Health and a Master of Business Administration from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. Dr. Hewitt is currently a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
