Dr. Back served in several leadership positions through the years and is an advocate for educating both medical students and residents. He has mentored and educated many students through his prior positions of adjunct assistant professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and as an adjunct assistant professor at Campbell University. He also enjoys teaching other spine surgeons approaches for minimally invasive spine surgery. In addition to teaching, he has mentored students on research projects and has presented the research findings at both local and national meetings.

Currently Dr. Back is also completing his executive MBA through the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill to grow his business and leadership skills. His goal is to use his new knowledge to foster community development and economic vitality for the local community.
