Dr. Aftab Jafri is a highly skilled surgeon , certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABS) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Dr Jafri is fellowship trained in Minimally Invasive Advanced Gastrointestinal/Foregut and Bariatric surgery. Using cutting-edge technology and the robotic platform, Dr. Jafri is able to treat a variety of acute care and elective general surgical issues, including simple and complex hernias, GERD, appendicitis, diverticulitis, gallbladder issues, colorectal surgery, peritoneal dialysis catheter access and revisions for renal insufficiency and cancer. He also offers weight loss surgery like gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and revisional weight loss and anti-reflux operations. He also performs screening and diagnostic colonoscopies and upper endoscopy (EGD) procedures. Dr. Jafri provides comprehensive, compassionate care to all of his patients and strives for excellence.
Dr. Jafri's professional journey reflects his dedication to continuous learning. He completed a General Surgery Residency at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, followed by a Minimally Invasive Advanced Gastrointestinal/Foregut and Bariatric Surgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Weston, Florida. Previously Dr. Jafri completed his medical education at Baqai Medical & Dental College in Pakistan. After one year of internship and three years of general/neurosurgery training in Pakistan, Dr. Jafri decided to pursue further specialization in the United States of America. After successfully completing his USMLE and ECFMG certifications, he gained valuable research experience in surgical quality improvement, followed by a two-year unaccredited general neurological surgery fellowship at Wayne State University/DMC.
Throughout his career, Dr. Jafri has been actively involved in research and has contributed to various publications. He has presented research findings at renowned conferences and received accolades for his scientific contributions.
Besides his dedication to medicine, he enjoys family, music, volleyball, running, and swimming during his leisure time. He is fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, allowing him to connect effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
