Dr. Wilbanks is a board-certified ophthalmologist qualified to diagnose and treat various ophthalmic conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and ocular surface diseases such as dry eye and pterygia. She is proficient in cataract surgery, including the use of advanced technology intraocular lenses and micro-invasive glaucoma surgery, or MIGS.
Dr. Wilbanks completed her medical degree at the University of Louisville. She was then selected to complete an internship in general surgery at MUSC, followed by a residency in ophthalmology. Dr. Wilbanks then moved to the Midwest, where she worked in private practice as a comprehensive ophthalmologist. After four years in private practice, Dr. Wilbanks returned to MUSC to complete a fellowship in surgical glaucoma. Dr. Wilbanks has presented at national and local ophthalmology meetings and is a published research author.
